Henricus Historical Park Will Present Origins Of A Free America: The 1619 Assembly Download as iCal file
Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10:00am - 05:00pm

Experience life in 1619 colonial Virginia during Origins of a Free America: The 1619 Assembly at Henricus Historical Park, July 17, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Approximately 20 living history interpreters portray the original members of the Henrico community – female servants, property owning widows, carpenters, apprentices, tobacco planters and soldiers.  This special program will showcase interpreters in first-person, walking, talking, and working as if it is the summer of 1619.  The event will re-create the return of the first chosen Henrico representatives, Thomas Dowse and John Polentine, and their news regarding the “Great Charter” and the first chosen representative assembly of Virginia and the New World.  Visitors will experience the manners, speech, and culture of the first successful colonists.  Visitors will also be able to fully interact with representatives at the grand reception at Mount Malady, the colonial hospital, to learn what these new freedoms will mean to them.   Daily admission fee is $8 for adults and $6 for children.
