SHIRLEY T. BURKE

Shirley T. Burke of Goochland County retired in mid-2010 after a 30-year career in public service and human resources, but she’s busier than ever.

Burke is living her dream and her passion, establishing and running The Esteem Institute.

“I work with and teach women (and men) how to feel better in their business suit as well as their birthday suit,” Burke, 66, says.

She is a founder in 2000 of the “Livin’ It Project,” which works with the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women. Shirley T.’s Esteem Institute offers seminars and workshops meant to enhance both body and soul, and she is a certified aerobics, Pilates and Zumba instructor. She shares her inspiration and advice in a monthly program on WCLM 1450-AM Radio.

Says Burke, “Seeing lives change keeps me doing what I do.”

Shirley T. Burke will appear on “Virginia This Morning” on Thu., Dec. 22. The program airs live on WTVR-CBS 6 in Richmond, beginning at 9 a.m.
