10 who made a difference in 2011

Earlier this year we asked readers to nominate local boomers, no matter how little-known or unsung, who have "It" – the thing that makes them stand out as influential, interesting or inspiring.
The 10 people profiled on the following pages, we agree, have "It."
They are the inaugural winners of the Boomer “It List” Awards.
Each winner also will be featured on “Virginia This Morning,” thanks to our co-sponsor, WTVR-CBS 6. News anchor and VTM host Cheryl Miller, who wrote the profiles that follow, will conduct the interviews, beginning with Boomer editor Ray McAllister on Fri., Dec. 9, and including all 10 winners over the following two weeks.
The winners and guests also will be feted at an awards dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Midlothian in January, where they will receive prizes provided by local sponsors.
